trying to record off internet, or from movies playing in windows media player:
music is playing through the speakers
Audacity microphone input has 3 options: what U hear (soundblaster), primary sound capture driver and line in/mike in (osundblaster)
I tried all of them: Audacity does not recognize any of these.
How to record what I’m watching on the computer screen?
thanks

Of course Audacity is an audio editor, so you should be able to record the sound, but you’ll have to use something else if you want to record the video you are “watching”.
“What-U-Hear” is the one that should work… Some soundcards/drivers don’t have that option at all, but if you see it, I think it should work.
This page has some information on how to set it up, or how to use a loopback cable from headphone/line-out to line-in, or some alternative software. Total Recorder is very popular, but it’s not free (and I don’t own it).
