Audacity 2.1.1
Windows 7 Home Premium x64 SP1
Attempting to record from a cassette player (Sony Walkman) using a 3.5mm male to male connector.
This is my first attempt at recording using Audacity.
When I turn on the cassette player, I can hear the music clearly through the laptop speakers
When I hit RECORD, a loud electronic clicking noise (attached) is heard over the music. When playing back the recording, only the strange noise is heard. The noise is also heard when I unplug the input jack and hit RECORD.
The only audio host setting that will allow me to use the RECORD button is Windows WASAPI. When MME is selected I get the error ‘Error while opening sound device. Please check the recording device settings and the project sample rate’
Thank you for your help!!
I was able to figure out the problem. I needed to config my laptop to show the ‘line in’ option as one of the recording devices available in Audacity.
Thanks for looking!
Thanks for confirming you fixed the problem.
