I zoomed into a portion of my waveform and drag-selected a small segment. Play and that small section will play. Any selection method or duration will do that.
Now click once in the middle of the waves. Play and the waveform and cursor take off like a scared cat. So much for my edit point.
Make the blue waves freeze during play. From fuzzy memory, I think wherever that setting is, it doesn’t stick from show to show, and I have to search for it every time.
Also from fuzzy memory, I didn’t write it down the last time I found it.
Click on the “cog” icon to the left of the Time Line.
Then select “Scroll view to playhead” or “Continuous scrolling” to select what you want it to do. These options are described in the manual here: Timeline - Audacity Manual
I changed the controls in Preferences, which you access via ctrl+P, which I changed to just P. For me,
J = Join
I = insert cut
A = amplify
B = Bass
E = change pitch
F = Fit width
G = Fit height
D = duplicate below
S = Save
cntrl+e = export as mp3
I hope this speeds you up.
