Static noises in recordings

HI. I am having a nightmare. Since I installed el capitaine. I get seemingly random static noises o my recordings. Ot’s driving me mad. And spoiling an otherwoes excellent relationship with audacity. Should I now upgrade to sierra? Or will this make it worse? Could this be a latency issue? I really am at a loss. My VO work is now taking twice as long as before. HEEEELP…

Thanks.

Which version of Audacity? (“Audacity menu > About Audacity”)
What are you trying to record and what equipment are you using?

Try reducing the “Audio to buffer” in Audacity’s Recording Preferences. (http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/recording_preferences.html)

HI. I am recording clean voice over, using an audient id4 and the latest audient 2.12.

We don’t make software called “audient” and there is no 2.12 version of Audacity made by us.

I suggest you download Audacity 2.1.2 from http://www.audacityteam.org/download/mac.

Please try this FAQ:
http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/faq_playback.html#mac_buffer.

and this FAQ in the Manual for the not-yet-released Audacity 2.1.3:

Sorry. I meant Audacity 2.1.2. This is what I am running. Do you have any suggestions? I can send an audio clip?
