I’m new at Audacity. I tried to remove clicks from a long (13 hour) audio file. I got lots of clicks removed, but some remained. So I ran it again. This time I ended up with a file filled with static. I’m nervous about trying anything else. Can I remove the static safely? I would prefer to take out clicks one at a time rather than to have this static.
Making 2 passes with different settings, to tackle different types of click, is reasonable strategy.
However applying twice with the same de-clicker settings is more harm than good, IMO.
I would undo the second application of de-clicker,
rather than attempt to repair the damage it has done to a 13 hour file.
Store-bought de-clicker plug-ins are faster & easier to use. (try before you buy).
