I have one mp3 file with four different songs in it. How can I split that one file into four separate files. Thanks
Vic
I just select/highlight one song at a time and File → Export → Export Selected Audio. It will help if you zoom-in and I’ll usually select a little extra at the beginning and end, maybe just a little extra silence, and then re-open the file for final trimming.
Or there is a more-automated way using labels.
Note that MP3 is a lossy compression format. When you open an MP3 in Audacity (or any “normal” audio editor) it gets decompressed. If you then re-export in a lossy format you are going through another generation of lossy compression. You may not hear any quality loss but it’s something to be aware of. There are some special tools such as mp3DirectCut that can do limited editing without decompressing.
