I’m a new user, just installed directly from Internet (didn’t save first) onto a Win7 machine. I want to split a stereo track, looked in the manual for guidance, but the split stereo track command isn’t in my Track menu. Is that not available in the free version? Is there another version that allows me to split a stereo track for editing? Thanks.
Audacity is free open source software. There is no “paid” version (though donations may be made here: http://audacityteam.org/donate/)
The current version is Audacity 2.0.3 and you can download it from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/windows
As you are unsure about your current version, I’d suggest that you uninstall it and download the recommended version from the link above.
