Specific audio format

I’m using windows 7 x64 and Audacity 2.1.1.

We just got a new phone system at work. I am trying to set up the greetings. Customer service told me to download this program and record the .wav files as:

Microsoft ula encoded
8-bit
mono channel
8000 hz
.wav format

I see the option to change it to mono channel and 8000hz. I cant seem to find an option to drop below 16-bit PCM. Also, what do I need to do to ensure my recording is Microsoft ULA encoded?

Also, I can’t believe I had never heard of this program before now. It’s awesome!

It’s called “U-Law”. Choose “Other uncompressed files” then click the Options… button. Choose WAV (Microsoft) header and U-Law encoding. Choosing U-Law makes it 8-bit.

So, I just spent a couple of minutes googling to figure out what “ULA” was. I realized I had spelled it wrong and was on my way back to edit the post.

Thank you for the super fast reply and the exact answer I was seeking!!
