Sound

I would be grateful for your help with the following:

Yesterday evening I installed Audacity and Lame as well as Soundflower so that I could record sounds coming through via my MAC as per these instructions: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tutorial_recording_computer_playback_on_mac.html Everything went perfectly and worked as it should do. Today I switched on my computer and tried to do the same thing, but the item that I am recording is still coming out of the speakers (I am on a Mini Mac and it is the internal speakers on that running Yosemite 10.10.5). If I turn the volume down the sound on the recording goes off. I have added Soundflower to my menu bar and checked NONE (Off), but the sound is still coming out. Where am I going wrong? Thanks in advance for your help.

Turn off Transport > Software Playthough in the Audacity Menu Bar.

Gale

Many thanks Gale: that has worked. Can I ask one more question: the different tool bars keep coming free from the main face of the program and floating free. I change the toolbar settings so they reattach, but then as soon as I click on something it floats free again. Why is it doing this? Thanks for your help.

Make sure you are using Audacity from us http://www.audacityteam.org/download/mac.

On Mac and Linux you do have to be careful not to click the serrated left edge of a toolbar, unless you do want to float it. Just clicking that edge will undock it. On Windows, releasing the mouse after the click redocks the toolbar if you have not dragged it.

If you have any more questions, feel free to start a new topic.
