Sound from track one bleeds into track two [SOLVED]

Hi
When I try to record onto a second track, the recording from track one bleeds through so you end up hearing the new recording and track one mixed together on track two.
I’ve been using Audacity for a couple of years now and this is the first time I’ve experienced this problem.

My operating system is Windows 10
I’ve recently downloaded version 2.1.2 but experienced the same problem with version 2.1.0
I obtained the .exe installer

In the device toolbar, select the device that you want to record from as the recording device, not “sound mapper”.
