Sound delay after hitting a note on guitar

PC spec and apps installed :—

Operating System windows 7 Home Premium
Behringer USB guitar link UCG102 ( purchased from Amazon)
NVIDIA High definition audio
Processor Intel (R) core ™ 2 duo cpu e7500 2.93 GHZ
Native instruments AC Box Combo app
Audacity 2.0.2

New user of Audacity

Hi
After installing Audacity I found that there is a delay between striking a note on my guitar and the sound coming from Audacity (approx ½ a second). At first I thought it may be my PC but when I play outside of Audacity using the AC combo box app the sound is perfect. I am new to Audacity and my technical knowledge is limited.I try to resolve problems myself but have not had any success with this one.

Appreciate any help
Many thanks

You’re listening to the guitar note “one computer late.” This is why you can’t do overdubbing and sound-on-sound with most computers alone. Your guitar interface has a headphone connection, you should use that – maybe.

You should particularly use that if you plan to make a whole rock band one instrument at a time.

You should also post back how it went. I reviewed the Behringer UCA202 for overdubbing. Your interface may not work like that and and it’s almost impossible to tell from the instructions.

We’re on the edge of our seats.

Many thanks Koz

I have ordered the UCA202 and will let you know how I get on with it.
