sony mini disk file conversion to MP3 using audacity

hello,

caveman here with scant knowledge of all things IT…but bear with me…you experts will get a laugh if nothing else…

i have a sony MD walkman ‘MZ-NH700’ that im trying to play files off in audacity and record them in real time. [ive given up with sonic stage ]

my computer is an lenovo think pad L580 running windows 10.

when i play the disks from the device with ear phones they are fine.

when i plug them into the out let on the laptop, and go into audacity there is no option for selecting local input.

my options weather i select WINDOWS WASAPI or windows direct sound or MME, never give me local input as an option.

any ideas?
