SOLVED: "Split Stereo to Mono" Remembers Stereo Track - bug

Audacity 3.6.2 under Windows 11.

Audacity now remembers the stereo channel after a split. So panning left/right not pan the signal. ie a Mono track is NOT really a mono track. For example, for signal that was in the left stereo channel, panning to the right (in the mono channel) does NOT move the signal right.

SOLVED. I was not playing back the tracks fully. It was a playback error on my part. NO BUG.
