Hi all,
is it possible to run Audacity without the GUI? If not, is there a way to make Audacity connect to Jack directly, without Port Audio?
I think either or both of these would help me a bit with a performance issue.
Thanks!

You can launch the GUI from the command-line, but cannot run Audacity without GUI. Try SoX if you want a command-line audio tool.
Audacity requires PortAudio to work.
If you need help, please describe what you are trying to do and what the performance issues are.
For example, if you are recording and the recording has distortion, tell us exactly what you are recording and give us the makes and model numbers of the recording equipment.

Hi Gale,
thank you for responding.
I think perhaps I was somewhat incorrect to say I was getting “distortion.” The issue is more about processor interrupts, I think. The instrument I was using is Add64, an additive synthesizer. It is quite CPU intensive anyways, and can create glitches when polyphony is high.
Ideally, if Port Audio could be avoided I think there would be fewer interruptions, but I’ll have to accept that for now.
Thanks!

The issue is more about processor interrupts, I think.
