Slight balance discrepancy on my recordings

On recording in Audacity, I watch the VU meter as the recording is being made. I noticed something very odd. Recording from my stereo system from my turntable, I noticed a slight difference in the left/right volumes: the left side of the VU meter was slightly behind the right side. So, I replaced my stylus assuming it had been damaged. But the same thing is happening with my new stylus. So, I tried recording a song from the internet to test it more cleanly. I chose a mono recording from Spotify, played through my desk speakers. Instead of the left and right speakers having the exact same volume levels, again, the left side level is slightly less than the right side. I am assuming this is a Windows 11 issue, and it may be an Audacity problem, but I have no idea how to correct this flaw. Please help to fix this problem. Thanks.

How much difference are you talking about? 1%, 20%, 50%?

Posting some screenshots of some waveforms will probably help visualize the problem.

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me. In the time it took to make screenshots/videos for you to see, I accidentally discovered the source of my problem: it was my error for not checking the interface mixer between the phonograph and the computer more closely. Thanks again for your quick response.

In most things, coming up with a detailed description of a problem often leads to the solution.
