The only way I know how to remove unwanted parts of a track is to actually delete those parts. I would like to be able to keep the whole track, but have Audacity only play certain parts that I am interested in while editing, by setting “skip to” points in the track. Eg., If at 1 minute though the track I want it to jump to be at 5 minutes through, then I put one of these skip to points at 1 minute that says skip to the 5 minute point.
Is there a way to do this, or a different feature that accomplishes what I am trying to do?
The upcoming 2.1.3 releasw will help you more with this.
Two new commannds have been added:
Move to next label - accessible using the shortcut ALT + right-arrow
Move to previous label - accessible using the shortcut ALT + left-arrow
These are only available through the shortcuts - there are no equivalent Menu commands for these two.
These two shortcut commands will operate either when Audacity is not playing or when it is playing (they are inhibited and unavailable when Audacity is recording).
If you use them while Audacity is playing then play will continue but from te next or previous label.
