Simultaneously generating a tone and recording a sound

Hello,

I would like to do the following:

  1. generate a continuous tone and output it via the headphone output of my soundcard — this is easy.
  2. input the tone to an electronic circuit — no problem
  3. record the output of that circuit, while the tone is being generated.

So, basically: can I use Audacity to simultaneously generate and output a tone, and also record another signal (via the same or another soundcard)? And, of course, if “yes”: how?

Thanks,

Fred

  1. record the output of that circuit, while the tone is being generated.

You can’t play a tone while it’s being generated with Audacity but you can play a tone that was previously generated.
