Simultaneous multi channel recording

  • I am running fully updated WIN 10 on my laptop.
    I am using a Behringer mixer connected to a Behringer UCA202 USB Audio Interface that then connects to my laptop USB port.
    I am trying to capture VOICE on the RIGHT channel and guitar on the LEFT channel.

My thinking is that I can then enhance either the VOICE or GUITAR independently within Audacity.
I have seen multiple You Tubes that say I can achieve this by panning (for example) the voice fully to the LEFT and the guitar fully to the RIGHT. However when I start to record I get both VOICE and GUITAR on both channels. I feel I am missing some critical step to make this work - I would appreciate any help/comments.

They need to be panned on the mixer.
If your headphones are plugged into the UCA202, you should then hear the voice on one side and the guitar on the other. Do you?
