Short burst of static every 1-2 min. while recording

hey all,
any help is appreciated.

i attached a recording of the buzz.

im using a yamaha mg16xu hooked up to audacity via usb.

I get this 5-7 seconds of static every minute or so while recording if using the Yamaha mixer as the input and output. it is not outside interference. I can predict when the static will start because the static “loop timer” starts when I press record so it’s not an external interference. ive also tried unplugging everything possible nearby to verify this. also it’s not the computer because I have repeated the same outcome on a new computer.

AND it only has static when I have the yamaha mixer set as my input and output (only way to record vocals while hearing my voice and the pre-recorded drum or guitar layer, right?)

I have narrowed it down audacity or the mixer. I can get recording with NO static, but only if the Yamaha mixer is not set as the output in audacity (which means I won’t be able to hear the tracks in my mixer headphones while recording vocals).

thanks for any help

That’s strange. Perhaps a USB thing? Check your power saving settings and ensure that everything is set to “full power” when plugged into the mains.
