Setting the audio source [SOLVED]

It was easy downloading Audacity, and the program is also easy to use, except for one very important thing: it appears that the only source of audio input that the program appears responsive to is the built-in microphone of my computer. I don’t want the program to respond to the microphone at all; I want it to respond only to the sound-card output. Before writing this inquiry, I searched the program screen quite diligently, but could not find any means of choosing the audio source. Please inform me how to record using the sound card, and not the microphone, as the audio source.
Thank you

Thank you! The second tutorial is the thing that actually would have hit pay dirt, except that by pure trial and error I was able to come up with the same solution.
Thanks again!
