Setting Recording Length.

Greetings from Tasmania,
I simply love Audacity recorder and thank the authors for making this excellent recorder freeware.
I need some help please.

When I am recording an Audio and I know the recording length of the audio clip, is it possible to set the ‘end recording time’ ?
I cannot seem to find this in the help file. Also is there anywhere I can down load the Audacity help file in PDF so I can refer to it off line.

Thanking you all in anticipation of a reply.

You shouldn’t stay on the edge of your seat for long periods. Your knees will fall asleep.

Yeah. Audacity has timers. It’s one of the few things it will do in real time.

And any minute I’m going to find the instructions…

There it is.

Transport > Timer Record.

There is no PDF Manual.

If you got the DMG of Audacity you already have an offline HTML Manual on your hard drive. Click Help > Manual top right of Audacity.

If you got the ZIP of Audacity you can download the Manual for the current Audacity release (2.1.1 right now) at Audacity Manual.

Please don’t forget when you post to tell us your version of Audacity and OS X (see the pink panel at the top of the page).

Thanks People got it all sorted…I think… one doozie of a program. Far more technical for what I need. OK me bad :imp: I like recorded books on CD which I borrow from our library but never get enough time to listen to them at home so I tried to record them to mp3 so I can listen to them on my phone. Yeah it worked once I installed the mp3 codex. However it was a slow process. Tried direct CD import but also slow. OK I found a freeware CD ripper and now can rip and save a CD into mp3 in less than 10 minutes.

Please don’t get me wrong Audacity is great when working with music files etc., but for my humble needs the CD ripper is all I need. I will still mess with Audacity when we do concert recordings and will get to know its features better.

Once again thanks for the heads up. The version I got I think was 2.2 I am replying from my laptop now and not in front of the PC as I am at work now…yeah Sunday nights is quiet and I get time to listen to my now mp3’s without having to cart my portable CD player around.

Thanks again for the help and keep up the good work.
