Set as Default MP3 player

Just downloaded 4.0, I’ve been using Audacity to edit voiceover auditions for 15-20 years, and have always been able to right click to set it as the default app to open audio files. I can still do this with version 3. Since trying to use version 4, it no longer shows up as an option when I right click to set as default. In order to get it to open a file I have to open the app and use the import menu option. Is there no way to just open a file and have it open in the newest version? Running OS 26.6.2.

Change “Recommended applications” to “All applications” and see what happens.

BTW, you may want to hold off changing to Audacity 4 (although you can always change back) since Audacity 4 is missing some significant features compared to AU3.

Thank you, that sorta works, but it gives me a warning that Apple can’t verify it’s not malware, and I have to open system settings and override it for each individual file.

I think I’ll just stick with AU3, seems like this upgrade is way more trouble than it’s worth.

In some cases, yes.
