Saving my settings

Hi. I’m sure this has been answered somewhere else, but hope you can help me.

I am using version 2.4.2 on Windows 10.

I always leave my Audacity Tools Menu set to the multi tool (F6). Up until the previous version, each time I closed down and restarted, Audacity remembered my settings.

However, with this version, each time I open Audacity, it re-sets to F1.

I know all I have to do is hit F6 each time on my keyboard, but I wonder if there is a way to save this setting.

Thank you for your help.

This behaviour was (after discussion) removed.

The main problem with Audacity “remembering” that multi-tool was used last, is that we receive frequent help requests from confused Audacity users that accidentally enabled the multi-tool, don’t know how they did it, and don’t know how to get out of it. At least now they can get out of it by restarting Audacity.

A number of other possible solutions were discussed, but given that it is so easy (for Audacity users such as you and I that are aware of the different tools) to switch from one tool to another, most of the possible “fixes” were more complicated than the actual problem.

Sorry about this (slight) inconvenience. If you have any suggestions for a better solution to this “stuck in mode” issue, please do let us know.
(The suggestion of a “default tool” Preference setting was ruled out as being a sledgehammer to crack a walnut)

Thanks for your reply. F6 it is.

Cheers
