Saving a wav file

I am only trying to edit a short wav file, to make it louder. I open the file, click effect, click amplify, select level and clipping, ok, and it shows the level increase. Select the play button to test, all ok, then try to save. Only get save project, which makes a different type file. Can not seem to find how to just edit the original file.

What am I missing?

Audacity doesn’t Save sound files. You can make a new sound file by File > Export. Audacity doesn’t have Clip INFO, either, so you need to know what the technical specifications of the original file were before Audacity to make an identical new one, just louder. Audacity will default to 44100, 16-bit, Stereo which is the Audio CD standard.
