Save Project button?

How do I get a Save Project button on a toolbar?

Audacity 3.1.3

You can’t - that would be a feature request.

Personally, I’ve always thought it a bit odd that we don’t have a button for save project (like the floppy-disk icon that Excel ans Windows - and many other apps - have).

Quickly looking through a few apps on my computer, the only one that I’ve found that has a “Save” button is my office app (LibreOffice). All the others (including Firefox, which I’m using now) use the “File” menu.

Personally I’ve never felt there is a need for a Save button. I can either use the “File” menu (like most other apps), or “Ctrl+S” (also like most other apps).

I note that the Save button in LibreOffice has a dropdown menu so you can select “Save / Save As / Export / Save Template / Save Remote File”. Personally I dislike buttons with menus - a normal menu is much clearer and more intuitive = less user errors.

Then try
a) Reaper
b) Wavepad
c) Adobe Acrobat
d) Word
e) Excel
f) Powerpoint
g) Paint

And even my Suunto dive computer dive log software (which you’re unlikely to have seen, I guess) does too.

My thinking is that a visible “Save Project” button may, just may, encourage folk to save more often - and that can only be a good thing surely …
