Same audio

Greetings ladies and gents,

my name is Kammellion and I have a question about using audacity and let’s plays.
I own windows 10 and the most recent version of Audacity. Together with my Blue Yeti Mic I do let’s play’s for about a month now.

Some of these games I play are either horror related or I get really excited. This means that my volume fluctuates quite a bit. Is there a tool in audacity to get my volume on about the same level? So that if I yell in excitement or scream in horror my audio volume will not differ much from my regular tone of speaking?

Thank you,

Chris’s Compressor can do that.

Chris wrote it so he could listen to opera in the car. It dynamically evens out large volume variations and it works look-ahead, so it doesn’t get surprised by odd conditions.

I use it on a radio talk show that I download as a podcast. The podcast doesn’t go through the broadcast compressors and so the volume is all over the map. I change the first value, Compression ratio from 0.5 to 0.77 and it’s very similar to the local radio station.

This is an example of no compression, default and 0.77.
