Where did you install 2.3.2 and 2.3.3 from? They are not in the Xubuntu 18.04 repository.
With the Software program that comes with Xubuntu. I’m sorry but i only started using Linux 3 days ago.
As you can see here, Ubuntu 18.04 (including Xubuntu, Kubuntu etc) have Audacity 2.2.1: https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=audacity&searchon=names&suite=bionic§ion=all
My guess is that you have added a PPA to your sources.
PPA’s can be useful for getting new versions of software before they are officially released by the distro. The downside is that they are usually unsupported, so not suitable for users that can’t fix problems that may occur.
Audacity 2.2.1 works pretty well on Ubuntu / Mint, even though it’s not the latest version. I would recommend using that version as it is the official Ubuntu release version. I’m not able to advise on how to proceed without knowing how Ubuntu has been installed.
When you become a Linux expert / guru, then using PPA’s can be a convenient option, though by that stage you would do better to build the software from the source code.
I noticed that there was 2 versions listed in the software manager. One for 2.3.3 and other for 2.2.1. I removed the first and things are working now. Thank you.
