Resetting Time Markers

Windows 10
Audacity Version 2.1.0

I’m relatively new so this may be a simple question. I want to take several clips out of an audio file and save each with it’s origianl time marker.
So if I copy a clip of, say 1 min 10 secs to 5 mins 20 secs, I want the new clip to begin at 1 min 10 secs.
Please advise.
Thank you!

The only way to do that is with leading-silence.

Select/highlight the part you want to silence and Generate → Silence will overwrite that part with silence. After the part you want to keep, you can simply Edit → Delete. You could optionally fade-in and fade-out the ends, etc.

Depending on what you’re trying to do, you could make multiple-duplicate tracks in the same project and then silence different parts of each track. Then when you export the original timing will be preserved.
