Removing room noise from another room

Hi All,
New user here. My apologies if this has been answered. I’ve gone thru the help, but can’t seem to find an answer.

O/S: Win10 Pro
Audacity: 2.4.2

I have multiple clips of recorded audio from another room. There are some files where there is silence, which I’m then able to filter out the room noise with Noise Reduction (which worked well).
However, there are quite a few clips where there is constant conversation, with very minimal silence (not enough to capture as a Noise Profile).

  1. Is there a way to capture the Noise Profile from one clip, then import that to another file as a new track and then filter the room noise out?
  2. Any other options to remove the room noise?

Note: all the clips are of the recording from one room to another, so it’s the same room noise throughout.

Thank you,
KG

If you exported a clip that contained similar “silence”, then you can import that file into your current project (“File menu > Import > Audio”) and it will appear as a new track. You can then use that track to grab the noise profile.
To remove a track from a project, click the [X] in the top left corner of the track.

Note that for Noise Reduction to work effectively, the noise profile must be as similar as possible to the noise that you wish to remove.

That worked!
Thank you.
