Those two are how to isolate a vocal. To remove one…

Center Pan Remover (Voice Remover–Search the page for ā€œCenter Pan Removerā€)

That’s the plugin to do that.

Sounds grand, doesn’t it? The tool isn’t called ā€œVocal Removalā€ because all it does is clean out everything in the middle of a stereo show. Since the singer is usually in the middle, she’s history. Unfortunately, if she isn’t in the middle, she’s not history, and further if the bass or drums are in the middle, they go away.

None of this works on a mono show.

And that’s the best you or anyone can do. You can try the Karaoke generators and programs, but they’re doing the same thing Center Pan Removal is doing.

At least one of the two programs in the first posting can do singer removal as well as singer isolation, but they all have the same restrictions. The singer can’t have stereo special effects or echo on their voice and they need to be in the exact center if you’re wearing headphones. One of the programs allows you to pick off a singer not in the middle.
