Remove stutter/glitch from audio track after recording

Hi! Can anyone help me figure out why this audio track of a conversation I recorded has so much stutter/glitch in playback? And more importantly for my purposes, is there anything I can do to repair it? (I was recording a meeting so I can’t re-record unfortunately).

Recording setup:

  • Shure CVB-B/O Boundary Condenser Microphone (omnidirectional)
  • PreSonus 2|6 USB interface
  • Audacity (definitely not earlier than 3.1.2, but I forgot to check my current version before downloading 3.3.1, which I did after recording the track in question).
  • 2021 MBP w/ Mac OS Ventura 13.2.1

I was recording a group of 8 people in a room roughly 24’ x 16’, with the mic on the wood floor in the center of the room, anywhere from 4-15 ft. from the attendees. My sound check sounded totally fine, but then I got done recording the meeting (50 min. or so), and the entire track plays back stuttering (see this link: SndUp | Post info).

After researching a bit, my best guess was a buffering/dropout issue, and another post here suggested paulstretching it, which helped a bit, but it’s still pretty garbled (see this link: SndUp | Post info).

Buuuut, I know amateur diagnoses sometimes make troubleshooting harder for y’all, so I’ll leave it there for now.

Any help is much appreciated!
