Remove noise from old 78's

I have a Mac OSX 10.7.5 and using Audacity 2.0.5 I have a Teac LP -R500 connected to the mac and i am trying to convert the old 78’s to digital.
The recoding side of the process seems fine, however i would like, if possible, to remove the “Crackling” type background noises from the recording.

I have tried using the Remove noise effect, but cannot seem to configure it for the purpose i need.

Any help and advice would be gratefully received, thank You

I’d also suggest looking at Brian Davies’ ClickRepair software (I used it for my vinyl LP and 45-singles transfers with excellent results) and his Noise Removla software too. Not free, but fairly cheap and with a 21-day free-trial period. See: http://www.clickrepair.net/
