Remove imported tracks

Using Windows 10 and Audacity 2.1.0. How do I remove an imported track in Audacity as if I had started from scratch? Every time I import an MP3 file, merge the tracks from stereo to mono and then export the mono track I am left with the track still in Audacity. I am unable to find how to reset everything so I can import another track. I have to close Audacity and then answer no when Audacity asks me if I want to save the track that I just exported.

Surely there is some way to clear everything out without having to close the program and reopen it.

Thanks for the help.

Audacity > file > new.

Should open a fresh Audacity window. You can also “x” out all the tracks (on the left), but Audacity will try to remember all your old tracks…

Thanks for the answer. I have opened a new instance of Audacity. It just seems strange to me there is no way to just reset the software in the current window.
