To start off with, I’m running Windows XP SP3 and installed Audacity 1.3.14 from an executable file.
I’m trying to split an mp3 track into three separate sections for burning onto three separate discs. However, once I’ve selected an end point for the audio I wish to save and have shadowed the portion I wish to remove, I’m stuck.
Under “Edit”, I hover over “Remove Audio” and the menu appears. But none of the features are active. CNTRL+X doesn’t work either. I have an older version of Audacity on an older pc, and never used this process for removing sections of audio before. As I recall, I just shadowed the portion I wanted to remove and then clicked the “Cut” icon (scissors).
But when I fired up my old pc and attempted this method, it did not work. As you all can tell, I don’t use this program very often at all. But man alive, I’ve never had any trouble figuring it out before.
I began to ponder over the possibility that my default player (Real) may have something to do with it, but that shouldn’t matter. I’d appreciate any assistance any of you may have to lend. Thanks!
