My Mac thinks Audacity is a device and not an application. I didn’t drag it to the app folder to install it. Is that why? Should I reinstall? If so, how do I uninstall? Thanks!
Audacity should not be run from the Disk Image (.dmg). It will seem to work until you need to do something that changes the Audacity settings and then it will just fail or create other damage. Yes, you should double click on the dmg and then drag the audacity folder into Go > Applications. Then destroy the dmg or I save them in an out-of the way folder against the time I need to repair something or go back to an earlier version.

Thank you! Moved it into applications, trashed the .dmg, opened the program and got “Critical Nyquist files could not be found. Nyquist effects will not work.” Do I need them?
Now I have no sound online. I can play/hear on iTunes but not on videos. Now I’m worried. Help!!! Hurry!!!
Got sound back but still concerned about Nyquist and the app. Thank you.
