I used Audacity to record a conversation. Exported it as WAV. The participant was talking too quietly for me to type a transcript so I tried to reimport it to increase the volume. I have tried opening the file directly and importing the file.
On both occasions, only 1/3 of the audio imports. So the file plays for 3 minutes in iTunes, but only 1 minute plays in Audacity.
Any tips on how to deal with this would be hugely appreciated!

Also please tell us your version of Audacity (all three numbers, see the pink panel at the top of the page).
Are you saying there are only 60 seconds of waveform in Audacity even if you do View > Fit in Window? Do you hear the first minute complete, or do you hear sections of the entire recording lasting one minute in total?
What happens if you Edit > Amplify… the audio in Audacity? Does the waveform change to a flat line?
