Reducing track volume

I have some tracks that I want to play very quietly, but even at lowest speaker output level, it is still to loud. How can I export a track with the track volume reduced to 50% ?
I have Audacity 2.4.2 on Linux Mint.

Run the Amplify effect with a negative amplification (which will actually be attenuation).

-6dB is 50% (amplitude) (1) and you’ll see that on the waveform but it won’t sound like 50% and you’ll probably want to go lower. If you repeat -6dB again, that’s -12dB and 1/4, etc.

(1) Just for clarity, power (wattage) is related to the square of the amplitude so the wattage is affected more.

Thanks for your reply. I think that’ll do the trick.
