Red lines (Bars) in Audion Track

I am using Aud-2.0.3 on windows 7. I am getting red lines bars in the audio track. I understand the recording is hitting or exceeding 0db.
What are the Audicity settings to use to make the vinyl recording not red line?

Right. The sound is too loud and it’s causing overload distortion. There should be a volume slider next to the microphone symbol. What happens if you turn that down? Will it turn down?
