I have a project (in 3.02, and using windows 10 and an HP x360 laptop) that crashed and I am try to recover. I task manage, end task and open audacity again the I select recover… No dice! I cannot tell you how many times this has happened with absolutely no luck. I really like audacity. Does anyone have any computer tricks to bring back a days work?

Maybe not. The current Audacity is 3.0.2. If you are using 3.02, you may be using a bogus version.
