I am working on an audio book and have some files recorded with 2.1.0, which only show up when I am in the old audacity 1.26, but do not show up when I am in Audacity 2.1.0 - result I am unable to open them. I have tried transferring the files to a different location, but then that location wants to merge the data and back files. How can I recover these files? Thanks
Please don’t forget to tell us your version of Windows (see the pink panel at the top of the page).
You can’t open AUP.BAK files in Audacity 2.1.0. You should open the AUP files (not the AUP.BAK files) in Audacity 1.2.6, unless the AUP files show an error or don’t contain the correct audio.
If you can open these AUP files with correct audio in 1.2.6, I suggest using File > Export WAV in 1.2.6 to save a WAV file that you can then import into 2.1.0 and save as a new project.
If you have multiple tracks in any of these projects, you can File > Export Multiple as WAV and import those multiple files into 2.1.0.
The current version of Audacity can be obtained here: http://audacityteam.org/download/windows.
