I am using Windows 8 and Audacity 2.0.5.
I recently made a half hour voiceover recording and then - stupidly - decided to change the saved file name in my documents library after initially saving to my hard drive.
I can see the icons for both the aup file and the associated project data folder however, in spite of checking the file names I’ve given are identical, I am unable to open the aup file - the warning message keeps saying “Couldn’t find the project data folder”.
Any ideas for how I can open the aup file? I know it’s there - and it took four and a half hours to record! - so fingers crossed someone will know how I can retrieve it.
I have tried changing the name of the file and the data folder (always matching) but this hasn’t worked.
Any help much appreciated.
Elaine
The _data folder referenced at “projname” near the top of the AUP file also has to match the actual name of the _data folder. You can edit the AUP file if necessary in Notepad.
If you still can’t make it work, please attach the AUP file. Please see here for how to attach files: https://forum.audacityteam.org/t/how-to-attach-files-to-forum-posts/24026/1

Hi Gale
Many thanks for your help. I’m not sure how to do this myself so please find the file attached.
Your help is very much appreciated.

SMR13 Animal welfare Appendix.aup (45.8 KB)
The AUP file is pointing to “Appendix for Animal welfare (SMR 13)_data” as you can see.
I don’t know what your _data folder is actually called, so to avoid editing the AUP file you can name your _data folder as “Appendix for Animal welfare (SMR 13)_data” (without the quotes), and name the AUP file as “Appendix for Animal welfare (SMR 13).AUP” (without the quotes).
Then make sure that Appendix for Animal welfare (SMR 13).AUP" and “Appendix for Animal welfare (SMR 13)_data” are in the same folder.
To see exactly what you’re naming the AUP file as, I suggest you set Windows to show file extensions. See http://en.kioskea.net/faq/28650-windows-8-1-display-file-extensions.

Thank you so much Gale. You’re a life-saver! That has worked. What a relief. I’m so grateful for your help.
