After installing Audacity using the .exe installer in Windows version 7, when I click on the record button I get this message: Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project sample rate. I can’t figure out how to get to these settings and I wouldn’t know what to do with them if I did. Help, Please!

What are you trying to record?
What options are available in the Windows Sound Control Panel and which options do you have selected?
