Recording with a Zoom h1n on Windows

Hey guys,
total noob in desperate need of help here. When I connect my Zoom h1n to my PC via USB I can choose wether I wnat to use the device as a microphone or a cardreader just fine. Howewer if I select to Use it as a Microphone and then chosse it as the microphone in Audacity, it doesnt record sound. When I push the recording button a new track appears, but no waveforms are shown and the cursor doesnt move on the timeline.
Does anyone know how to fix this? Do I need to install a driver first or change some Windows or Audacity settings?

Cheers and thanks for your help in advance,

Johnny

A recent Windows 10 update requires that you give permission for applications to access audio devices. See: https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=100117

There can be an advantage to using a stand-alone recorder and then transferring the files to the computer later… Computers are the least reliable gadgets we own (mostly because they are very flexible and it’s easy to mess something up).

If you record with a computer, sooner or later something’s going to go wrong. That’s not necessarily a big deal if you are recording yourself at home. But, if you are recording live events a stand-alone recorder is usually more reliable.

What’s the job?

If you have the choice between recording on the stand-alone and recording as a computer service, without question using it stand-alone is recommended. A major part of forum support for audiobook reading is getting the computer to work.

You know if you record on Windows, you have to turn off Windows voice processing, right? Otherwise your show may sound like a bad cellphone.

Etc.
