This is my first attempt to use audacity, to record audio streaming from Internet Archive. So far it has been unsuccessful, judging by (a) no graphic evidence of recording and (b) no output from the internal microphones. Hopefully, someone can help me (with simple language!).
My Mac OS is High Sierra 10.13.6, Audacity 2.3.0. What I have done so fare is select Soundflower (2ch) as my sound output then Built-in output in the Soundflower menu, then in Audacity preferences ticked ‘Software playthrough of input’. Next I play the audio source (https://archive.org/embed/JohnMcCormack-Recordings1911-1940&playlist=1#) and press the red button in Audacity but I neither hear nor see any evidence of output although it can be heard if I revert to internal speakers.
By the way I have downloaded the LAME MP3 encoder and FFmpeg import/export library.
Any help would be much appreciated.
