For a long time, I’ve been able to record audio playback from my soundcard with these settings, and randomly it just stopped working. I’ve fiddled with it and followed a bunch of tutorials but everything I’m supposed to be doing hasn’t worked.
That is my current configuration. When I play with something like windows media player, nothing is recognized while monitoring, or in record mode.
Any ideas of what could be wrong?
Do you have a restore point from before the problem that you can roll back to?
I don’t because to try and resolve the problem I re-installed Audacity, and the problem persisted. :S
Reinstalling Audacity will make no difference unless you also tell the installation to reset preferences.
It is possible that an automatic update may have broken the “Stereo Mix” option. If this has happened and you don’t have a restore point then you would need to check the sound card drivers manually (which is a pain, but we can tackle that if necessary).
Also, voip programs (such as Skype) are notorious for changing the sound system settings - do you have any such programs installed?
