Recording My Electric Guitar

Hi, I recently got into recording some of my stuff, so I’m pretty short of knowledge on the whole recording scene. I was just wondering what I would need to get for recording with the following set-up that im looking for:
Electric guitar amp

Microphone (I’m looking at these to most likely get) http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Q1UCW/ http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/Digital-Reference-DRGX1-Dynamic-Instrument-Microphone?sku=270621 http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/PG57XLR/

And I’m looking to record it to my computer from the microphone. I don’t know if I would need a preamp or not, or what cables I would need, or if there’s anything else I would want/need that isn’t real pricey, so any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. :]

What kind of computer do you have? If you have anything but a Windows Laptop, you can get adapters to plug your electric guitar straight into the computer. After you mess with that for a while and get used to Audacity and the whole capture process, then you can blow the bux on a more advanced sound system.

That one will adapt a 1/4" - 1/4" male guitar cable to a computer.

And here’s a whole cable that does it.

Straight wouldn’t be good, it won’t sound good, you need amplification if you want to connect straight to the computer.
