I am trying to record an mpc2000 (classic) out into Audacity on my laptop. I do not want to mix or separate the tracks. I simply want to play the sequence and record it on the laptop via a “Y” cable into the mic-in port on my computer. I have a Dell Latitude 3330. It does not have the “stereo in” recording option and I have not been successful in adding it, though I would like to if possible. I cannot believe how complicated this seems to be. I think the output is in “mono” but I don’t even know. I do know that I can just plug a simple 1/4 inch cable in one of the outs into a p.a. and it plays fine. No luck at all in getting audacity to recognize it. Have tried various settings and have been able to accomplish everything from pure silence to earsplitting feedback on the recording. If anyone can please help me, I would be forever grateful. Super frustrated.

My Windows Laptop has no stereo connections, so I added them with a Behringer UCA202.
It works both directions and it’s certified for overdubbing if you get that far.
