While playing back an LP recording, I’ve noticed that the software doesn’t pick up the instruments that play on the left channel of the original LP recording. Is there a remedy for this?
NOTE: If music is only coming out of the left channel, the signal of the recording is showing on both channels.
Make sure that both Audacity and Windows are set for 2-channel stereo (assuming you’re on Windows).
If that’s not the problem, tell us about your hardware setup. Sometimes you can get a clue by unplugging one side at a time and/or swapping the left & right connections.
…Once this is solved hang on to that record with obvious left-right separation for testing/troubleshooting.
My guess is that (s)he tries recording using the headphone/microphone connection of the computer. And this connection is mono only. Stereo microphones on a computer headset don’t make much sense…
Thanks so much to both of you for responding! The video explained exactly what was wrong and how to fix. The recording is going superbly. Thanks again!
