Recording level resets to zero. I already deselected "microphone" for all other apps in Privacy and Security.

I am using Monterey 12.1.

I am on Audacity 3.2.3.

When I enter Audacity and set the recording level, it automatically resets to zero.

I already deselected “microphone” for all other apps in Privacy and Security, so Audacity is the only app selected for “microphone” there.

So it is possible that you are recording from a USB device, where the recording level is set externally to the computer. Does this happen when you record with your built-in microphone ?
