I’m having trouble recording in Audacity. This is what my recording options look like: http://bit.ly/4yRqSX.
I’m using Vista, and a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio sound card.
I’d appreciate any help I can get. I use Audacity to record Skype conversations.

Successful recording from Skype requires either, special software (such as Pamela, Total Recorder, etc,) or 2 computers.
The problem is that to record sounds playing on your computer you need to set the input to “Stereo Mix”, but to use Skype the input must be set to Microphone. Skype automatically takes over the sound card and sets the recording input to Microphone, which in turn means that Audacity cannot record properly from Skype.

I actually used a combination of Skype, Audio Repeaters, Audacity and Ustream on another computer and streamed successfully quite a few times.
The Stereo Mix option is not available on this computer which has Vista.
